Star no Koi / A Star Love

A Japanese take on Notting Hill (1999). Sosuke Nakata (Kusanagi Tsuyoshi), is just your everyday salaried worker. There is really nothing special that stands out about Nakata. He is a serious guy, whose life mostly consists of going back and forth to the office each day.

Suddenly one day though, Nakata just happens to meet a certain woman by coincidence-top star, Hikaruko Kirishima (Fujiwara Norika). Just by talking to her, Nakata is left standing feeling like he has just seen a dream.

Several days later, Kirishima calls an emergency press conference.

And there she announces..."I am now dating a gentleman by the name of Sosuke Nakata, a salaried worker, whom I intend to marry."

An announcement about their "relationship," out of the blue! More than that, this top star's boyfriend is just your typical salaried worker!! What does Kirishima have up her sleeve as she hides behind her intrepid smile?!

Nakata obviously has no idea about what happened at the press conference. He also doesn't know what lies ahead for him at work, and about Hikaruko's true intentions.

This story, a somewhat funny, but romantic love story, follows the footsteps of a man and woman from very different worlds, as they experience the painful and sometimes remarkable ups and downs of love. --- Fuji TV

Sailor Fuku no Kikanju

High school student Hoshi Izumi (Nagasawa Masami) loses her father suddenly in an accident. One day, Sakuma (Tsutsumi Shinichi), the waka gashira of a small and weak Yakuza gang in Asakusa – the Medaka Gumi – pays Izumi a visit along with the gang members. The death of their former kumicho (Boss) puts Medaka Gumi on the verge of a breakup. Therefore, Sakuma begs Izumi, the former boss’s only distant relative left, to succeed to the kumicho position. Izumi is taken by surprise and keeps refusing at first. However, she ends up becoming the 8th kumicho of the Medaka Gumi!

The police tell her that her father’s death may possibly be a homicide case. There’s also Mayumi (Koizumi Kyoko), a mysterious woman staring closely at Izumi’s father’s photograph at his funeral. The situation becomes complicated when the drug-dealing vicious yakuza, Hamaguchi Gumi, comes into the picture as well as Sandaiji Hajime (Ogata Ken), a politician whose public stance is to eliminate drugs. --TBS

Synopsis

Kiritani Shuji is the popular guy who gets along with everyone, from the jerks to the nerds to the just plain weird. The one person Shuji cannot stand is Kusano Akira. To Shuji, Akira is just plain annoying. He laughs, talks and acts funny. Things heat up when a new student comes to school. Her name is Kotani Nobuko, a girl who has no self confidence at all and is content at being made fun of and bullied in school. Synopsis

A romantic comedy about women in their 30's

Breaking the tradition of the main character for a Monday night drama being a woman in her 20's, Esumi Makiko stars as Kyoko Asaoka, a 32-year-old heart surgeon working at a hospital in Tokyo. Men tend to shy away from the tall, well-educated and well-paid Kyoko because they see her as a woman that can do things on her own. The truth of the matter is that Kyoko is just unlucky in love. She is also old-fashioned, and wants to fall in love just like anyone else, but has a hard time showing her real self to men.

Kirakira Kenshui

Synopsis

Adapted from a popular blog, this drama follows the comical struggles and growth of an intern doctor, Usako, played by Konishi Manami in her first lead role. While Wentz Eiji stars as a male nursing aide to Usako, who falls in love with her.

Intern doctor, Usako meet an ill child on the way to the very first day of her work. Hastily, she takes the child to her hospital, however the hospital is too crowded and Usako falls into a panic. Confused, Usako is unable to do anything helpful. Right then, Mikako (Ryo), a beautiful doctor appears and does a quick and appropriate treatment.

Usako is relieved with the situation, however she suddenly realizes that she is late to work. She hurriedly runs to her trainer doctor, Itabashi (Terajima Susumu - appears in episode 1 only), in the pediatrics department, and gets yelled at. To make matters worse, she is even looked down from patients (kids) as a layperson. Usako offers her arm for an injection practice for a nurse trainee, gets suspected of having affair with her boss… There seems to be no peaceful days for her.

One day, she gets high fever of 40 degrees (Celsius), and is forced to overcome various troubles with a high fever. Will she be able to fulfill her duty and become a proper doctor?! Challenging days for the doctor intern Usako have only started!
